I have checked the “Show configure window after creating new plot” check box in the Settings, so that I can set the default font to “Verdana”.
When I open ForeUI and click on the “Default font” drop down it takes 18 seconds before the list is shown!
By the way, this happens only the first time after a re-open of ForeUI.

Hi Ulrich, we know about this issue. It takes so long because it has to collect the information for all installed font in your system. If the quantity of installed font is big, this will take long. Also it generates the preview of those fonts, which is also time consuming. We are aware of this issue, and that’s why we cache the result from the first time, and avoid doing the same thing later.

I guess the mail problem is generation of font previews, because opening the font drop down list did not take that long before version 4.Can you please consider adding a setting to enable the user to enable/disable the font preview?

The font previews also exist in V3.xx, we haven't changed this part for long. Could you tell me how many fonts are installed in your system? Is there any special font (big or complex) get installed? We tested this on Mac OS with 200+ fonts and Windows 7 with 300+ fonts and they all open the drop down list in 1 seconds, which are quite acceptable.

I have 249 fonts installed on my 64-bit Windows 7 pc.1 second would be acceptable, but it just took 8 seconds, and it has taken much longer than 1 second, every time I have opened ForeUI v 4.

This is not normal. Have you installed any special font (big or complex) into your system? I doubt the time was consumed on loading some special fonts.

This might take a while if you have a large number of fonts installed. It also creates a time-consuming preview of those typefaces. Since we are aware of this problem, we just do it once and then save the result in a cache so that we don’t waste time recreating it drift hunters.
