I created a group and added it to a tab (new functionality v2.37). Now I need to copy/paste an element of that group, but I can’t seem to get the copy option to appear and I don’t know how to take the group out of the tab so I can ungroup it to copy the individual element.

Copy embedded element within a group is not supported yet.
To take the group out of the tab, just select the group, then click the “Extract” button on floating tool pane. Shown in the figure below:
