I have several iterations of a plot, up to v1.24 now. this afternoon while making changes and clicking save and error message popped up stating “Image File Missing, “The image file “0.png” is not found”. This went on for about 25 images. The save completed, but now no image elements have an actual image displayed in them, in the entire plot.
The Image Dock is completely blank. When I add an image element to the plot and attempt to chose an image, the context popup does not display to choose any of the stock images either.
If I go back to v1.19 of the plot the images are there. Is there something I can do to fix the v1.24 plot, or do I have to start back at the v1.19 and rebuild my changes?
Note: v1.20 through v1.22 are versions opened in ForeUI 3.003 beta and cannot be re-opened with ForeUI v2.810.
I need this fixed, so I may just start again with v1.19 of the plot and re-do everything done over the past week.

Hi GregS,
It is hard to figure out why the image files are gone. Sometimes it is because the memory usage exceed the limit, sometimes it is because the workspace directory can not be accessed during the saving (related to network driver, permission settings or anti virus system etc.).
I guess you were using different file names for different interations? If so please check if there is any auto saved plot file in the same directory. Auto saved file will have name like xxxx_autosaved.4ui. If it contains the images, you can just rename it and continue working on it.
If that doesn’t help, please send us your v1.19 (which has all images) and v1.24 plot files to foreui@easynth.com. We can try to fix it for you.
Several times now I have put 10-15 images into my project and next time I load up the plot – all the images have lost their references to external files. The image objects are on the plot but don’t actually show anything. I have to go back and re-load all the images.
Can you list out the things it could be so I can check them? I’m using a local drive for the files, I’m saving them as myself, so it’s not a permission issue. I am using most of my 3Gig memory (which limit are you talking about?). I have McAfee antivirus installed (and cannot remove it – it’s a corporate install).

Hi Bill, could you send us or post your log file? You can find the log file in the "(UserDir)/.foreui/log" directory. I believe the log file contains some useful information for troubleshooting.

Am sending it to <a href="http://mailto:foreui@easynth.com" rel="nofollow">foreui@easynth.com</a> since it's 500k+
Hi,
I just started getting this same error too. Every time I save my plot, I get about 20 popups telling me that each image file is missing, and now all the images have disappeared from the plot. Will send on my log file too (to the email address mentioned in Bill’s post).
Hoping for a solution as this is very annoying!!
Hi,
I have the same Problem. I put several times images into my plot. If i load the plot i can se the images in the Open dialog preview part but in the opend plot the images are missing. If i saved the plot with the new images there was no error message about missing images and the images where displayed. If i close the plot an reopen it the images are gone and the image Dock is completly blank. If i reopen the plot again the images are there. So sometimes the images are there somtimes the images are missing. Everytime i opened a plot i was suprised whats happen to the images. I dont know what the algorythmus is.
I am working with:
Version Foreui 3.003
My plot are on a local drive
Window 7
McAfee
There is no log in the “Userdir/.foreui/log”
Although several users meet this problem, the reasons are various.
Katy’s case is caused by the permission settings. Since she changed the location of workspace to a new directory, and her account does not have the permission to read/write that directory, which causes the problem. So she fixed the problem by fixing the permission settings.
Bill’s case is caused by the anti-virus system (McAfee). After loading plot file, the image files inside are extracted to workspace directory, and the anti-virus immediately removes them, so ForeUI (sometimes) could not actually load image data from those files. We have provided Bill an internal version, which can directly load image data from .4ui file, so the image data can survive. We are still waiting for Bill’s confirmation about the result.
@Bruno, since you are using McAfee as well, it is possible that you are facing the same case with Bill. If you are interested, could you try this internal version to see if it helps?
http://www.foreui.com/misc/tmp/V3_009…
Please kindly let us know the result, if you tried the internal version. Thank you.
Hi Vivi
Since i have a corporate installation i can not run a setup.exe on my system. Is it possible to get the internal version V3_009 on a zip file so i can extract them like the “ForeUI Minimal Bundle” on your Download site?
Thanks for your support
Bruno

Hi Bruno, you can download it here:
<a href="http://www.foreui.com/misc/tmp/V3_009/ForeUI.tar.gz" rel="nofollow">http://www.foreui.com/misc/tmp/V3_009...</a>
Hi Vivi
Thanks for this fast reply. I have made the installation and run some tests.
I tryed the V3_009 and reopened the plot many times. Every times it opened the images were still there. Then i tryed to make the Export Html5. If i start the generated index.html it loops in the browser (Google Chrome 21.0.1180.89 or Firefox 16.0.2). If i run the simulation ist loops. If i run it with my version previous it works fine.

Hi Bruno, thanks for the feedback. It is a good news that your images are always there, that means our solution works.
As for the "loop" issue you mentioned, I guess you mean the simulation is stuck on the loading phase? From the log I can see some behavior is not (correctly) generated, which cause the parse error. IMO it seems not connect to the image missing issue. If you want, we can help you to diagnose the behavior definition, if you could send us the .4ui file. -
The "syntax error " on "};}; " is because you have some errors on behavior definition. The entities with error will be highlighted with red color. You can fix the issue by removing the entity with error.
Hi ViVi
Sorry i was on holliday last week.
Now i deleted some pages. My project includes now only a few pages. I have no behavior definition anymore. If i make a html export there are allready errors.

How can i send you my .4ui file?
With the version 3.006 it works fine no errors and the simulation runs. Mybe i have to work with the version 3.006 with no images.
Thanks Bruno
Hi Bruno, the log shows that you still have behavior defined, and there is error in side. You can show all defined behavior by deselecting this button on the behavior editor toolbar.
The next official release (V3.1, should be next week) will take care of your case , the behavior with error will be ignored. (just like V3.006 did)
If you want to solve it in current version, you can send the .4ui file to foreui@easynth.com, then we will help you to check it.
Hi ViVi
You were rigth. If i deselected this button i was realy supprised. There were still a lot of behavior defined. Some from previously deleted items some from hidden item. I will send you the .4ui file for your investigation. Maybe it will help you to get some special information about open problems in the foreui or mistake from me 🙂
So i go on with the V3.009 and will wait for the V3.1 release. You have a great product.
Thanks for your patience
Bruno
V3.1 is just released. You can find an option in the settings window (in misc tab), to enable the memory cache. Using the memory cache should solve the problem, if the antivirus system disallows ForeUI to write image files.
Hi ViVi
Thanks for your information about the new release. I will work with it very intensiv. My project wil grow to about 30 Pages with a lot of behaviors.
You have a great product and a very fast and a realy professional customer support.
Have a nice day
Bruno
Hi ViVi
In my project i make a navigation with multilevelMenu and call other pages according to the clicked menu. If i like to evaluate which menu was selected there is no referenz in the index. Menulevel one is ok but if i click on a level two menu there ist no referenz in the {MultilevelMenu_24.selectionIdentification}. So the behavior branch according to {MultilevelMenu_24.selectionIdentification} does not work. Can you help me?
Tanks Bruno
PS. i didnt had problems anymore with the images.
-
Hi Bruno, it is better to open another thread to discuss the issue related to Multilevel menu, as the current thread is about images.
From your description, I guess you were using the "Element Clicked" event. In order to get notified when user choose a menu item, you should handle the "Selection Changed" event instead.
